“Oily skin is a blessing when you maintain it well as it shines naturally, and keeping it healthy requires proper daily maintenance” – Shahnaz Husain

Daily Care

It is important to note that regularly washing your face twice a day with mild cleanser that would remove skin impurities yet help maintain healthy oil balance is a must. Here it is to be noted that using a Tulsi Neem Face Wash that is antibacterial and germicidal or using a facewash that controls oil and reduces acne formation like OOPS face wash will be beneficial.

Using a scrub formulated with natural ingredients like Shascrub Plus deeply cleanses the pores and helps reduce blackheads, improves the skin texture.

Regularly using skin toner made of natural ingredients like Sharose will keep the skin healthy, pores tight and make the skin glow naturally.

Next is moisturising the skin, here it is essential to note that even though you have oily skin, a healthy moisture balance should be maintained, therefore using a noncomedogenic moisturiser will ensure that the skin stays healthy and free of blackheads. Shaclove Plus Cream, not only controls oil but also counteracts formation of acne and pimples.

Using a sunscreen that would be non-greasy yet protect your skin against UVA and UVB based on Ayruvedic ingredients is a must like, Total Care Day Long Sun Block with SPF 40.

DIY Face Mask

  • Mix 1 tablespoon of fuller’s earth (Multani mitti) with a few drops of Sharose, make a paste. Apply it all over your face and keep it till it is dry. Rinse off with cool water. The mask maintains oil balance and reduces excessive sebum secretion.
  • In a bowl make a mix of 1 tbsp gram flour +1 tbsp turmeric powder +3-4 tsp cold milk. Apply it on your face and neck, let it dry and then rinse. It helps in maintaining healthy oil balance while naturally cleansing the skin.
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda +3 tablespoons of water to form a smooth paste. Apply this on your face and leave it on for 5 minutes. Rinse off with cold water. Using this formulation will naturally exfoliate your skin without damaging it.

Proper Diet

  • Reduce oily food and spicy food intake as it only stimulates the system into secreting excessive oil and excessive heat that is bad for the digestive system and your skin.
  • Chocolates are good but only when consumed in less quantity, majority of times consuming sweets, sugar in any form and chocolates results in skin eruptions, specially on oily skin.
  • Adding more fibre to your food and salads would ensure that your system is clean, when you maintain good gut health it also shows on your skin. Include all the greens like cucumber, green vegetables such as spinach, bok choy, kale, etc.
